Reedy High School Side-By-Side- December 16th
5:30-8:00pm: RHS Auditorium
We have a great evening planned for our future Reedy HS Band students. The schedule for the evening is as follows:
5:15 All Students should arrive at Reedy HS and move to the band hall to drop off cases, get your instruments out of cases and set up on stage. We will have a spot set up for you. You should plan to enter through the doors at the back of the school facing the band lot, next to the garage door. We will provide the music you need. There is no need to wear anything special. This is casual, informal, and fun!
5:30 Rehearse new music “Side-By-Side” with our current Wind Ensemble members at Reedy HS.
7:00 Short Concert Performance featuring the current and future Reedy HS Band
7:20 FREE PIZZA and drinks for participating students!!
Parents stay with us in the auditorium for a brief orientation.
8:00 All students are dismissed!
Both parents and students are starting to make decisions regarding high school and course selection. The move to a high school from middle school can be a daunting one for some students and the High School band is here to ease that transition. The Reedy Band is the largest single group at Reedy HS and our band students start the year with 200 friends already made through our summer activities…if that doesn’t make a new school feel friendly and inviting, we don’t know what does!
After the concert we will be going over the information below as well as giving you a timeline from now until the start of marching band in late July. We are very excited to have your child join our growing band family at Reedy High School!
● All 8th grade band students and parents should plan to attend this concert and informative meeting. There may be some who are undecided or “on the fence” about high school plans. This is a great opportunity to receive all of the information to make the best decision and perform in an All-Region type experience with older players.
● The Reedy HS band directors, student representatives, and band parents will be present at this meeting to answer every question you may have about The Reedy HS Band.
● Scheduling, calendar, credits, boosters, and marching band will be discussed.
● Please contact your middle school band director if you are unable to attend.
Best regards,
Paul Heuer, Jeremy DeWinter, Scott Baldwin
