FISD Solo Contest- February 8th
The district solo contest is on Saturday, February 8th at Stafford Middle School. The contest runs from 9am-4 pm. Students will be assigned an individual time to perform for their judge. The performance plus the warm-up time should take between 30-45 minutes total. Students need to wear nice clothes for their performance. They are welcome to wear concert black, but are not required to. Any formal wear is acceptable.
The solo schedule can be viewed HERE. While each student has a room number that they have been assigned, we will not know the physical number for the student's rooms until next week. We will share that with you once we get that information.
Students should arrive 20-30 minutes before their solo time so that they can warm up and find their rooms and should leave after their performance. All scores and medals will be distributed on Monday February 5, so there is no reason to stay at Stafford after the conclusion of their performance.
As a reminder, this is a large district event involving over 500 students in 7 different schools. The schedule is finalized and cannot be changed.
Movie Night- February 11th
On Tuesday, February 11th we will be hosting our annual Movie Night in the Band Hall from 4-5:30 PM! Students can vote on what movie to watch by using this Google Form that was also sent out on Wednesday. Students are welcome to bring snacks and drinks to enjoy during the movie, but deliveries (pizza, UberEats, DoorDash,etc.) are not permitted.
February 24th- Concert Band Pre-UIL
Pre-UIL Concert (5:40-8:00pm)
When: Monday, February 24th, 2025 - Reedy HS Auditorium
Bring: Instrument (and all the supplies needed to play it) and band binder.
Wear: “Formal Uniform” (Black dress pants, Black dress shirt (button-up or blouse) with sleeves that hit the elbows or below, Black dress shoes (closed toe, flat bottom), Plain, long black dress socks or stockings. CONCERT BAND ITINERARY
5:20 pm- Arrive at Reedy HS. Enter through the back glass doors by the Band Hall. Go to the Choir Room.
5:30 pm- Warm-up begins.
6:00 pm- Concert Band Performs on the auditorium stage.
6:30 pm- Concert Band Performs Sightreading in the Band Hall (parents are welcome to
watch sightreading).
7:00 pm- Approximate dismissal time.
Frisco HS Band Boosters
The FHS Band Booster Nominating Committee is looking to fill as many slots as possible for the upcoming year. If your current 8th grader is going to be in the Frisco HS Band next year, please consider volunteering with the band boosters! Information and an interest survey are below.

Symphonic Band Sectionals
There are no Symphonic Band Sectionals next week! Sectionals will resume on February 18th.
Symphonic Band students are working on pass-offs on their UIL Music. Click HERE to see their pass-off sheet for this 9 weeks.
Concert Band Sectionals
There are no Concert Band Sectionals next week! Students should use this time to pass-off their UIL Music.
All morning sectionals are from 7:15-8:15 AM and afternoon sectionals are from 3:55-4:55 PM.
Band Sectionals / Bad weather policy:
-If school or school activities are cancelled for bad weather, sectionals are cancelled.
-If FISD has a delayed start to the school day, sectionals are cancelled.
-If there is bad weather, but school and school activities are not cancelled, we will still have sectionals. Please be safe when dropping your students off.
-If the band director needs to cancel a sectional, that will be communicated via email.

Most of our Concert and Symphonic Band students have all of their correct supplies for class. If your student does not, please refer to the following:
